The Government of Castilla-La Mancha has valued the rapid response by the Government of Spain to the request promoted by the regional president, Emiliano García-Page, to declare the localities affected by the DANA in September a catastrophic zone and that the Aid can reach the affected municipalities as soon as possible.
This was explained, in a joint press Outlook Email Lists conference, by the delegates of the Junta in Toledo and Cuenca, Álvaro Gutiérrez and María Ángeles López, respectively, the provinces most affected by the torrential rains, one day after the Council of Ministers approved the declaration of an area seriously affected by civil protection emergencies.
At the beginning of his statements, Gutiérrez stressed that “the devastation caused by these torrential rains” required “extraordinary and rapid action” so that all affected municipalities could request aid and be able to recover normality as soon as possible. For this reason, he has insisted that the Government of Emiliano García-Page “immediately” requested the declaration of a catastrophic area one day after the DANA occurred in September.
